Nest Boxes: Supporting Biodiversity
Welcome to the Just One Planet nest box program- promoting the creation of bird houses.
The Problem
Global bird populations are severely declining, mainly due to major habitat loss.
Our Plan
We will be building nesting boxes for local birds! These will be built for specific species and you should use the resources provided on the Just One Planet website to choose one that is applicable. After building them, you will be able to send pictures/videos of your finished projects to be posted to Just One Planet social media platforms.
First, go to the NestWatch website to be able to access instructions on how to build your nest box:
Remember, you must choose a bird house that matches the birds in your region and what will be best for your housing situation. If your region cannot be found, please find another website that has it! Make sure to check out all the tips and tricks on the website! If you find another reliable source to get information, go ahead and try it out.
After building your house, please send images of it to justoneplanetorg@gmail.com to be posted on the Just One Planet Tiktok and Instagram. Please take images from multiple angles. If you'd like, edit it to enhance vibrancy or hide any details that you don't like.
Include information such as what type of bird the house is intended for, the general region it's located in (do not include your personal address), any difficulties you faced, things you may change next time, and anything else you want to add. If you'd like, include your name (first and last, just first, or a pseudonym) and/or username.
If you're in school, consider using this as a chance to earn volunteer hours. Don't forget to follow all Just One Planet social media platforms!
